Getting there is half the fun, sort of

It took Tinkerbell and me two-and-a-half days to drive from Athens, Georgia, to Great Barrington, Massachusetts.  I didn't think to take a picture as we left home; these two were taken on the morning of the second day, in Dublin, Virginia.  I was a bit surprised that I was able to get the large traveling crate that Anne and I used for our first trip up with the cat, back in 2007, into the back of the Prius.  It just barely fits, and requires that half the rear seat be folded down to make a platform for it.  Inside are all the comforts of home, at least as far as a kitty is concerned:  a kitty bed, a litter box, a bowl of cat food, and a non-spill water bowl that I found at the pet store.  This meant that when I made periodic stops during the driving, I didn't have to fill a water bowl for her and put it in the crate, only to take it out before starting out again.

The cat did amazingly well on the trip.  There was no incessant meowing, as I had to put up with on previous trips.  On the third day, she let me know that she wanted to stop for good, but that was about it.  On the whole, an easy trip, though long (1000 miles).

The rest of my luggage and supplies for a month in the Berkshires (Tanglewood portable table, computer gear so I can work some of the time) pretty much filled the rest of the car.
