I stopped by during the day to take a few photos. The Tanglewood grounds are open to the public most days, and the locals use it as a park. Some have lunch there, others just walk the beautiful grounds.
We'll see how this one works: it's a panorama, stitched together from four separate photos, then cropped to eliminate the resulting ragged edges, and reduced in size quite a bit so that it fits in a (wide) browser window. The large tree on the right is the famous one that has been the centerpiece of the lawn for decades. It's beginning to show its age now, and isn't nearly as large and full as in years past.
The Boston Symphony runs a school for young orchestral players, the Tanglewood Music Center. They also have a joint program with Boston University, BUTI (Boston University Tanglewood Institute). I don't know which program these two young musicians are part of, but they've set up to practice on the lawn under the trees near the Music Shed.
A shot in side the shed, showing a good portion of the seating and the stage. This was taken at the right rear, so the closest seats are the least expensive shed tickets.
I'll be attending BSO concerts in the shed on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.
